How to Organise your Freeze
With the hustle and bustle, people generally wish to purchase goods in lots and push them away in the freezer to stock them up. At times, it becomes so annoying that the foods accumulate unorganized, and hence little space is left for more.
Much before knowing how to organize things, know what goes into the freezer!
What goes into the freezer?
Foods like dairy products, meat, and fish, frozen foods, veggies that are less hydrated, etc go into the freezer. Do not put sensitive vegetables that are prone to dehydration due to the freezer atmosphere.
Now after you know what to organize in the freezer, we can get to how to organize.
Steps to organize food in the freezer
Store different kinds of food separately
Foods such as fruits, vegetables, and meat should be stored in separate compartments. This is because each class of individuals has different properties and when they combine, they might not show a positive reaction. Juices or liquids that are secreted from meat or flesh readily destroys fruits and vegetables if they get soaked in it for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary that they are to be stored in separate racks or containers.
The FIFO rule
FIFO stands for “First in first out”. This means that the foods that are bought first are the ones that should be used first. So, when new foods are to be stocked up inside the freezer, ensure that the ones that are bought earlier are pulled to the front so that they can be used first. This is to ensure that they don’t get spoilt with time and thereby preventing wastage.
Identification and labeling of food
We are at most times in a hurry that we cannot find what we are looking for. We sometimes overlook some of the foods stored in the freezer. This will not only cause chaos but also waste food if not checked again since its life depreciates.
Henceforth, it is always recommended to store foods in good glass, plastic, or paper containers( according to the food) separately. These containers are to be labeled in order to minimize confusion while searching for particular foods.
There are a lot more tricks that one can follow but cannot undermine the basic ones. All the above tricks and hacks might look so simple and trivial but trust us, it makes a huge difference.
